

Phil was born July 15, 1930 in Elkton, TN, to the late William Warren Henderson of Elkmont, AL, and Berneece Boyd Henderson of Chickasaw County, MS.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret Ruth Bolling Henderson; five children, Pam Johnson (Wayne) of Tallahassee, FL, Patricia Smith (Mike Sease) of York, PA, Robert Henderson, Jr. (Ann) of Shunk, PA, Rich Henderson (Cynthia) of Nashville, TN, Amy Whipple (Karl) of South Portland, ME; fourteen grandchildren, Rebecca Waite (Jon), Kevin Johnson, Katie Hill (Spencer), Megan Smith, Amanda Smith, Emily Smith, Lindley Economides (Zikos), Douglas Charlton, Thomas Charlton, Turner Henderson, Margot Henderson, Mike Whipple, Will Whipple, and Andrew Whipple; and three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Clara, and Lily Waite.
Preceded in death by his older brother, William (Bill) and sister-in-law, Virginia (Ginny).
He was born in Elkton, TN and after moving to Nashville in 1943, he graduated from West End High School in 1948 and attended Vanderbilt University, where his education was interrupted by a stint in the Air Force. He married the love of his life, Margaret, in 1951. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 1956. He went on to receive a Master's of Science in Electrical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology in 1969.Throughout their life together, he and Margaret lived in many cities around the country including Tullahoma, TN; Dallas, TX; Indialantic, FL; State College, PA; McLean, VA; Melbourne, FL; Nashville, TN; Palm Coast, FL; and Brentwood, TN, touching the lives of all the friends they made along the way.Throughout his career, Phil worked for Arnold Research Organization, Texas Instruments, Harris Corporation, and HRB-Singer Corporation, achieving top-level management positions prior to retiring in 1995.Phil was an Eagle Scout; an avid golfer, and was active in his community, serving on the board of several charities and country clubs, and as a treasurer of the Hammock Dunes Men's Golf Association.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015 with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
