

LYKINS, Robert Clyde passed away on Saturday, the 22nd of September 2012. He was born on the 3rd of October 1915 in Houston, Texas. He survived by a son, John Lykins of Overland Park, Kansas; and two grandchildren. Brett Lykins and Dana Lykins. His wife of 58 years, Elinor preceded him in death 3 years ago. He moved to Henderson, Tennessee at 12 years old, and graduated from Chester County High School in 1934. He attended The University of Alabama and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Alabama Million Dollar Marching Band where he played the clarinet. During World War Two, he joined the Army Air Corps. Moving to Nashville in 1951 with the Arrow Shirt Company, he was in sales, until retiring in 1980. At the time of retirement he was working with the Hickock Belt Company. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Memphis and in his later years was active in the Masonic Lodge in Nashville. He and his family have been members of Immanuel Baptist Church since 1956. His wife, the beloved Elinor Lykins, was active in many Immanuel functions through the years. Mr. Lykins enjoyed motors, and could seem in his 1954 MG-TF Sports Car driving around the Green Hills area of town frequently. He was a proud member of The Sons of Confederate Veterans. A service will be held at eleven o’clock the morning of Saturday the 29th of September 2012 at Immanuel Baptist Church. Following the service the family will drive to Henderson City Cemetery in Henderson, Tennessee, for a brief graveside service and interment. In lieu of customary remembrances donations may be made in honor of Mr. Lykins to Immanuel Baptist Church.
