
Robert Y. Phelan, Jr.Nashville, TNAge 83, passed away on Wed. May 25, 2016, in Dallas, Texas. Bob was born in Nashville, TN to Robert and Flora Keele Phelan on March 1, 1933. He grew up in Nashville and although he lived most of his life away, he always considered Nashville his home. Bob graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1948, and Vanderbilt University in 1954 with a degree in chemical engineering, an event of great pride and satisfaction to his parents. He had a long and successful career, primarily at the IBM Corporation, both in Endicott, NY, and Austin, TX, where he was a highly respected Senior Site Executive.Bob met the love of his life at 17 when he met Janie Lee, also of Nashville, and on May 10, 2016 they celebrated their 64th anniversary. As he said many times over the years, when he met her, he knew she was the one, and all these years later she was still the light of his life. Bob is survived today by his then bride, Jane Lee Phelan. They had six children; Robert Y.,III of Binghamton, NY, Brad(Sullins) of Birmingham, Al., Wade(Patti) of Endicott, NY, Lisa (Rochelle) of Dallas, TX, David (Esther) of Austin, TX, and David's twin Donna Celeste, who died in July 1960, at three months of age. Bob is also survived by his sister, Joy Phelan,(James) Arnold. Bob is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren. He never tired of hearing of their exploits and accomplishments.After retiring from IBM, Bob and Jane started their next adventure. They bred and showed Scottish Terriers! They founded Caevnes Kennels & produced many champion Scotties, For the last 30 years of his life it was their great passion. To celebrate Robert's life the family will receive friends at the Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home from seven to eight o'clock in the evening on Friday, June 17th, 2016. There will be a private burial service on Saturday, June 18th, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, The Scottish Terrier Rescue Trust Fund, or a charity of your choice.
