Born Oct 4, 1959 in Norfolk, VA to Edwin H. Pilmer, Jr. and Juanita F. Pilmer. Robert was raised in a military family and grew up predominantly in rural Blackwater, MS. After attending primary schools in Kemper and Lauderdale counties, he graduated from NE Lauderdale High School and went on to attend Meridian Jr. College. He was active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Little League, and was cast in a Meridian Little Theater production of South Pacific.
He worked for a while at Peavy Electronics in Meridian, MS making and tuning guitars. After moving to Louisiana for a few years where he worked on an offshore oil platform, his interest in music led him to migrate to Nashville where he has been a long term resident. Always handy and capable, Robert earned multiple professional certifications in his career, specializing in the HVAC field. Robert served on the Board of Directors for GNAA, was awarded GNAA Technician of the year two years in a row. After managing his own business for many years, he has been employed with SM Lawrence (formerly Dillingham & Smith) for the past nine years, where he rose to the position of Safety Director. He continued earning numerous certifications and found his perfect calling, teaching safety and caring for all those he worked with.
The Lord blessed Robert with a beautiful voice and guitar talent. Throughout his career, he never lost his love of music and entertaining. Starting as a young man he played in several bands along the way, most recently as a vocalist and guitarist with a local group, Stone Harmonic.
A man of character and faith, Robert was dedicated to improving his own life and the lives of those around him. He had a unique sense of humor, a quick wit, the gift of gab and a passion to unite family and friends. Robert will be greatly missed by Debbie, family and many, many friends.
