Roberta Groce Brown

Robin was a cherished and loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Born in Greenville, South Carolina, Robin was the daughter of Augustus Benjamin Groce Sr. and Josephine Hirsig Groce. She moved to Nashville, Tennessee, with her family, and she graduated from The Harpeth Hall School and Vanderbilt University. She later moved to Franklin, Tennessee, where she lived for many years.

Robin was a faithful Christian and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Nashville. She taught preschool and elementary school, and she was a kind and helpful teacher. Her supportive kindness, creativity, and caring spirit were constant throughout her life. She was always there for others. She was a devoted grandmother who loved her grandchildren dearly. She cherished volunteering in support of her church, schools, and organizations such as GraceWorks Ministries, and she was a Sustaining member of the Junior League of Nashville. Robin will be remembered for the many ways her life was a blessing and especially for the gifts of her faithfulness, giving spirit, love, and kindness. She will be greatly missed.

Robin was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Bonner Groce. She is survived by her daughters, Kirkland Hendrickson (Robert) and Elizabeth Chatham (Steven); her grandchildren, Catherine Chatham and John Chatham; her brother, Benjamin Groce Jr. (Laura); her sister, Lawren Thach (the late Collett); and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church of Nashville in the Stanford Chapel.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the church.

After the service, a family graveside service will be held.

The family would like to thank everyone on her medical team and everyone at the church for their care for Robin.
