

Cmdr. Roxanne Davis Tweedy, USN, Retired, age 77, of Brentwood, Tennessee passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022. Roxanne was born June 27, 1944, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late, Mary Jeannette Thomas and John Stuckey Davis, Sr. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, John Stuckey Davis, Jr. and her sister, Sarah Jane Hotham.
Roxanne is survived by her husband, Steve Tweedy, son, Charles Tweedy, son, Addison (Lisa) Tweedy, daughter, Alissa (Felix) Mandolang, daughter, Johanna Tweedy; grandchildren, Jonathan, Marcus, Ariston, Silas, Anastasia and Gloriana, her brother Jeff (Karla) Davis.
Roxanne graduated from the Jackson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Miami, Florida and obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from Shelbourne University in Dublin, Ireland. As a civilian nurse she worked in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, California, Maryland and Virginia.
Roxanne was a resilient individual. She was hardworking, determined, and lived her life to the fullest. To have met and known her, all loved her vivacious personality. Roxanne loved to spend time with her family, whether traveling, amusement parks, roller coasters or camping. She loved to go dancing, teaching new nurses, and singing in the church choir.
Her patriotism was unmatched by her peers. She enlisted in the United States Air Force as a nurse during the Vietnam War. After raising her children she went back into the military serving proudly in the US Navy as a Reserve Nurse, a feat most honorable. She also served in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. She retired as a Commander in the United States Navy.
She was a member of the Reserve Officers Association, Association of the US Navy, Lifetime Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and local member of VFW #4781, Ocala, Florida, Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN), Registered Nurses Retired- Marion and Citrus Counties (RNR) Ocala Christian Women’s Group, National Rifle Association (NRA), CPR Instructor, Commander of North Marion Young Marines.
