

Mr. Miles had a cheerful disposition, enjoyed challenges and had a zest for life few know. He served in the Air National Guard in France during the Korean conflict, graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School and practiced law in Nashville for over 50 years. An avid private pilot and charter member of Old Hickory Fliers, he received the Orville and Wilbur Wright Award. He was a mason.
He was married to two wonderful wives who both predeceased him, Carolyn Rust Miles and Evelyn Underwood Miles. He is survived by his four children: Roy A. Miles III (wife Lori), Littell Rust Miles, John Randolph Miles (wife Julie) and Carolyn (Lyn) Miles Smith (husband Paul). His grandchildren are Lauren Renee Miles, Rachel Miles Davis (husband Matt), Harrison Bryce Miles, Carolyn Grace Smith and Daniel Givens. He has one great-grandchild Jirah Mikhael Davis. He is also survived by several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many dear friends.
The visitation will be at Mt. Olivet Funeral Home on Wednesday June 5 from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday June 6 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. followed by a service and interment also at Mr. Olivet. In lieu of flowers, preferred charities are Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, St. Jude’s and Nashville Rescue Mission.
