Ruby Cornelia "Connie" Odom Stewart

Connie passed from this life into the presence of our Lord Friday evening October 21st, 2022 at Maple Cottage in Hendersonville.

She joins her husband Robert A. Stewart who died Feb. 16th 1976. Connie was the daughter of Guy and Gladys Lora Robinson Odom and was born in 1923 on Aug. 17th in Rutherford County. She was a graduate of Smyrna High. Connie gained employment at Fort Campbell near the beginning of WWII and served as secretary to base commanding officer. This is where, at the end of the war, she met and married returning Army Major Robert Stewart. They moved to Nashville, opened a business together and raised their family.

Connie is survived by her two sons Ray (Janice) Stewart of Springfield and Curtis (Kaye) Stewart of Gallatin. Granddaughters Courtney (David) Pepper, Brittany Lora (Matt) Tyree and Brittany (Micah) Proctor along with grandsons Ryan (Alex) Stewart, Taylor (Abby) Stewart and Tad ( Sara ) Stewart In addition her great grandchildren are Annabelle, Boone, Jack , Rowan, Audrey ,Cooper, Grayson, Tate, Miller, Maddox and Sam

Connie was one of ten siblings growing up in Smyrna. She was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Keyes, Janelle Reeder and Loyce Adkerson and brother, Eugene, Neal and Kenneth Odom. Surviving are brothers, Leonard and Wayne Odom and sister Juanice Winchester. The family also includes dozens of nieces and nephews.

Connie lived a full 99 years of life always placing her family first. She had great business skills. She was generous, productive, frugal and had a sharp sense of humor. Between her time at Riverside and Dalewood Baptist Churches, she served the 3 and 4 year olds for over 30 years. A blessed time.

Gathering of Family and Friends with be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 4:30-7pm. On Thursday, October 27, 2022 gathering will begin at beginning at 10am with a Service conducted by Bro. Ken Castleberry at 11am all at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
