

Age 102.
Widow of the late Paul P. Franklin. Survived by daughter, Mary Kathryn Carlton and son-in-law, Jerry Carlton, grandsons, Ron Evans, Jr and Will Evans, granddaughters-in-law, Mai Ayyad, Vicki Garza and Jill Evans, step grandchildren Jay and Anna Carlton, Melissa Carlton and great grandchildren, Kaylynn Evans, Ethan Evans, Abby Evans, step great granddaughter, Jordin Carlton and niece Libby Haupt.
Ruth taught elementary school for 31 years, with 29 years as a first grade teacher at Palmer Elementary School in Belle Meade/ Nashville, TN where she ensured that countless students got off to a good start. Upon retirement, Ruth and Paul enjoyed almost 22 action-packed years in Fairfield Glade, TN. Ruth’s sunny disposition was widely know throughout the community. A member of Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, Ruth also participated in such community activities as square dancing, bowling, garden club, bell-ringing and bridge club. With a passion for traveling, Ruth often claimed that Go was her middle name. She had a special fondness for Les Barge in Sarasota FL.
Ruth and Paul relocated to Nashville in 2000 due to Paul’s health. Ruth spent much time enjoying her family, friends and travel as well as being an avid reader despite her refusal to ever wear glasses. (A magnifying glass does not count.)
Visitation will be at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home from four o’clock until eight o’clock on Friday.
Adam Kaufhold will officiate services in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at one o’clock.
