
Sallie Ann Snyder Holmes, 84, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020. She was born on November 22, 1936, to George Marvin Snyder and Sallie Whitteaker Snyder , who predecease her. She graduated from Hume-Fogg High School in 1955 and went to work for National Life. Sallie married the love of her life, Phillip, on February 17, 1958, at Christ the King Church, and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage together.
She was a loving wife, devoted mother to her seven children and a caring Granny to her eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She worked for many years for the Diocese of Nashville, first at St. Patrick Church and then at Christ the King where she oversaw the afterschool program and later was a staff assistant in the rectory. Sallie served in many volunteer roles while her children attended Christ the King School. For the last 25 years, Phillip and Sallie have lived on Old Hickory Lake. Sallie was never happier than when her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends would gather at their home.
Sallie is survived by her husband Phillip Holmes, Sr.; her sons Phillip, Jr. and his wife Susan and their children Heather (Drew) Bateman, Ashley, Margaret and JR Wooten; David and his wife Debbie and their son Hunter (Erin); Chris and his wife Katy and their daughters Sarah (Garrett) Short and Jessica; Jeff and his wife Tammy and their children Andrew, Alex (Andrew) Grissim and Olivia; Mark and his wife Theresa and their daughters Lauren and Caitlin; and her daughters Beth and her husband Mike Beacom and their children Patrick, Matthew and Rachel; Sallie and her husband David Brackman and their children Daniel, Emily and Joseph. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Bentley, Paisley, Jackson and Madelyn.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Holmes, Hunter Holmes, Patrick Beacom, Matthew Beacom, Daniel Brackman and Joseph Brackman. Honorary pallbearers will be Drew Bateman, Andrew Grissim, Garrett Short and JR Wooten.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, December 14 from 3 to 7 pm at the Hermitage Funeral Home, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 15 at 10:30 am at Christ the King Church, 3001 Belmont Boulevard, Nashville, TN.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christ the King Tuition Assistance Program or the Kevin Paul Davis Memorial Scholarship at Father Ryan High School.
