

Sallie Ann Brown McKissack was born January 18, 1936 in Davidson County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Brown and Hattie Mae Lesley. She peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at her residence on Thursday, January 12, 2017 after a long illness. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Sarah Frye, grandson, Darrell McKissack, Jr., and sister Della Terrell.
She was educated in the Davidson County School System. She was saved and baptized at the Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Reverend Robert S. McCathern in 1980. She was a member of Club Number One. She was married to Eugene McKissack, Sr. on February 20, 1954. To this union two sons were born. She retired on disability from the State of Tennessee with the Contractor’s Board.
She leaves to cherish memory a very devoted husband of 62 years, Eugene McKissack, Sr.; two sons, Eugene, Jr. (Rosalyn) and Darrell (Judy) McKissack; three grandchildren, Chereka, Derrick, and Kimberly McKissack; four great grandchildren, Derrick Mckissack, Jr., Darian Marshall, Titus and Taleah Ellsworth; several nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends, special nieces Sarah Clay (Danny Smith) and Patricia (Reverend Bobby) Nichols; special nephews William (Gloria) Wigfall and Major (Barbara) Clay, three sisters-in- law; four brothers-in-law; and special friend, Rev. David Terrell.
