Sarah E Jones, age 98, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on May 6, 2026. Born May 19, 1927, in Franklin, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Sadie Vandilla Waters Gray and William Andrew Gray. A high school graduate, Sarah spent her working years with steady dedication—first retiring as a seamstress and later serving as a bus driver at the airport, shuttling passengers from the parking lot to the terminal.
Sarah loved her children and her grand and great-grandchildren beyond measure, giving her heart freely in the everyday moments that become a family’s most lasting memories. One of her greatest joys was cooking, especially when it gathered everyone around the table and filled the home with warmth, laughter, and love. Spring was her favorite season, and she cherished it for its promise of renewal—delighting in blooming flowers and the fresh beginnings they represent.
She also found happiness in simple pleasures shared with those she loved: yard sales, shopping trips, and dining out with her sister and children, treasuring the time together. Sarah attended Tusculum Church of Christ.
Sarah is survived by her children, Brenda Duke, Chester Raines, and Dana Adams (James Adams); her grandchildren, Carmella Duke, Hanson Duke, Stephanie Waye, Kyle Raines, Kacee Pieratt, Chad Pieratt, Spencer Aldridge, and Harmony Aldridge; her great-grandchildren, Amber Leedy, Autum Stengl, Thomas Sladen, Matthew Hoffman, Dazie Duke, Isbella Duke, Sarah Duke, Remi Raines, Easton Raines, and Constance Aldridge; her great-great grandchildren, Johnny Durham, Brooklyn Durham, Joshlyn Anderson, Nevaeh Shipp, Melinda Sladen, and Sia Sladen; and her siblings, Clara George, Melvin Gray, (Linda Gray), and Louise Ryan (Willie Ryan).
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Novella Duke; and her siblings, James William Gray, John Thomas Gray, Mildred Gray Street, Thelma Gray Jones, and Annie Margret Gray.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial donations be made to Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN. The family is deeply thankful to Alive Hospice and its dedicated staff for the loving and gentle care shown to their mother in her last days.
Graveside Service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cross Mausoleum.
