Sarah McNish

Sarah Harwood McNish, 91, of Nashville, TN, died peacefully October 1, 2012, at Alive Hospice following a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Charles O. McNish, whom she married on October 2, 1942. She wasborn on May 7, 1921, in Antioch, TN to parents Joseph and Lillie Harwood. She graduated from Antioch High School in 1939. She devoted her life to being a wife, homemaker and volunteer. She is survived by two sons, Kent McNish and wife Ellen, of Franklin, TN and Neal McNish, Oak Park, IL. Grandchildren: Mindy (McNish) Hartley and husband,Steve, Denver, CO; Megan (McNish) Cooper, and husband, Brian,Franklin, TN; Amy Erin McNish, Santa Cruz, CA; Kevin McNish, Newport Beach, CA; Emily McNish, Nashville, TN; Laurel McNish, Franklin, TN; Kathryn “Katie”McNish,Brooklyn, NY; John “Jack” McNish, Oak Park, Il; Great-grandchildren: Sam and Ethan Cooper, Franklin, TN; Georgia and Ben Hartley, Denver, CO; plus loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was an active member of Donelson Heights United Methodist Church for 56 years. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 PM Friday, October 5 at Hibbett-Hailey Funeral Home on Donelson Pike. Services on Saturday, October 6 at 11AM at the church preceded by visitation beginning at 10 AM. Services will be conducted by The Rev. John Collett, The Rev. Jim Hamilton, and Rick Quinn. Pallbearers will be Herman Phillips, Jim Steed, Tom Cate, Jim Leath, Jerry McNish, Steve Merryman and Toby Merryman. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Donelson Heights United Methodist Church, 84 Fairway Drive, Nashville, TN 37214; or Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.
