Scott was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Margaret Ella and Herbert B. McKean on November 27, 1939. He graduated from Lewiston High School in Lewiston, Idaho in 1957, and Oregon State University in 1962 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He served five years in the U.S. Navy in the Nuclear Power program aboard the nuclear submarine, U.S.S. Theodore Rosevelt. After completing his service, he attended the Harvard University School of Business Administration graduating in 1969 with an MBA in Finance. He finished his business career in 2000, retiring from Bridgestone/Firestone Corp.
In Nashville, Scott served on the boards of directors for numerous local non-profit organizations including the Nashville Opera and Fifty Forward. He is survived by his wife, Karen, his sons, Robert and Todd, and his brother, Arthur.
Interment will be in Troy, Pennsylvania at the McKean Family Cemetery in July.
The family suggests that remembrances may be sent to the Nashville Opera, Fifty Forward, or Alive Hospice.
