Sherrie McClendon Tipton

Sherrie McClendon Tipton, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Alive Hospice after a two year battle with cancer. Sherrie was born on October 10, 1947 in Donelson, Tennessee to the late Daniel Graves McClendon Jr. and Virginia Osborne McClendon. She graduated from Two Rivers High School in Donelson and later attended the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. Sherrie was a dedicated nurse, working at the Green Hills Clinic and Frist Clinic. She and her family enjoyed boating and social activities at the Cedar Creek Yacht Club on Old Hickory Lake. She attended Hillsboro Church of Christ in Nashville. Our family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Alive Hospice and to Sherrie’s close family and friends who stayed by her side in her final days. She was never alone and always loved. Sherrie was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Graves McClendon Jr. and mother, Virginia Alston Osborne McClendon. Sherrie is survived by her husband, Joe B. Tipton Sr. of Mt. Juliet, TN; son, Joseph B. (Loraine) Tipton Jr. of Nashville, TN; son, Justin D. (Lauren) Tipton of Franklin, TN; grandchildren, Hudson D. Tipton, Joseph B. Tipton III, and Hunter H. Tipton; brother, Daniel G. (Jodi) McClendon III of Flower Mound, TX; niece and nephew, Madison E. and Parker R. McClendon. Visitation will be held at four o’ clock in the evening until eight on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at eleven o’ clock in the morning on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Hillsboro Church of Christ, 5800 Hillsboro Pk. with visitation one hour prior. Memorial contributions may be made to Alive Hospice or the charity of choice.
