Shirley Ann Hood Steely

Shirley Ann Hood Steely passed from this earthly life on March 16, 2016, at her home in Nashville, TN. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Louis Len. Survived by daughters, Janey (Jim) Shufelt, Carlisle, PA, and Elizabeth (Kelly) Blake, Nashville, TN, grandchildren, Sarah (Phil) George, Lauren Shufelt, Dillon and Annabelle Blake, great-grandchildren, Carter and Henry George. An only child, Shirley is also survived by a sister she chose, Gail Dormon of Anniston, AL. Born to the Rev. Robert E. Hood and Irma Childs Hood on November 22, 1934, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was a graduate of Anniston High School and Judson College. Shirley was a military wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a world traveler, birder, foodie, and fan of Auburn football, Duke basketball, and Braves baseball. She had a love for learning, a great sense of humor, and a memory like no other The family would like to thank the staff of Mary, Queen of Angels Assisted Living and Sitters and More for their loving care. Funeral Mass and inurnment to be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Anniston, Alabama, on Friday, May 27, 2016, at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
