Shirley M. Wagner

Mrs. Shirley M. Wagner, age 83 of Donelson, Tennessee, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016, at McKendree Village. Mrs. Wagner was born on November 22, 1932, in Kings Mills, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles and Marie Brayton Souders. She worked as a bookkeeper in the Food Wholesale industry. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Richard "Doc" Wagner. They had four children and were married for 57 years until his passing in 2012. After his passing, she became very active in Pennington Bend United Methodist Church. She was impeccable at cross-stitching and kept her mind sharp by completing crossword puzzles daily. She is loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by three siblings, JoAnn Lehman, Jimmy Souders and Pamala Souders.

She is survived by three sons, Steve Wagner and his wife, Susan, Rick Wagner and his wife, Beverly, and Rob Wagner and his wife, Sherry; one daughter, Susan Rider and her husband, Darren; six grandchildren, Matt Wagner and his wife, Erica, Katie Colgan and her husband, Justin, Richard Wagner, Leslie Wagner, Slate Rider and Maggie Rider; one brother, Charles "Sonny" Souders, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, from four o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening, and again on Thursday, April 14, 2016, from eleven in the morning until twelve noon. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at twelve noon with Pastor Bud Alexander officiating. A private interment will follow at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pennington Bend United Methodist Church.
