Skylar graduated from Vanderbilt University in Biomedical Engineering in 2014. He was the President of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry while he was in school at Vanderbilt. Skylar’s biomedical devices built at Vanderbilt are being used currently in Vanderbilt Hospital and are in trial on 3 continents for 3 different clinical applications: dialysis; heart failure, and trauma emergency rooms in Ethiopia.
Skylar is survived by his wife of seven months, Rachel Boland Haws; parents, Royce and Renee Haws, of Newburgh, IN; sister, Isabella Haws of Newburgh, IN; father- and mother-in-law, Keith and Anlla Boland of Lexington, SC; grandmother, Phyllis Strunk of Princeton, IN; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from three o’clock until six o’clock in the evening at Grace Community Church, 5711 Granny White Pike, Brentwood, TN followed by a memorial service at six o’clock.
Burial will take place Thursday at the Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City, IN.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Skylar Haws Innovation Fund at 5/3rd Bank.
