

Sister Catherine de Ricci Donnellan, O.P., a member of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation in Nashville, Tennessee for 81 years, died peacefully Thursday, September 28, 2017 at St. Cecilia Convent in Nashville after a lengthy illness. She was 100 years old. Born in Washington, D.C. to John J. and Mary Mulhall Donnellan in 1917, she entered the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia in 1936 and professed vows in 1937. Sister Catherine de Ricci served for 60 years in elementary and secondary schools staffed by the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Donnellan McKenna and Patricia A. Donnellan; and a brother, Joseph Donnellan. She is survived by one brother, Denis F. X. Donnellan , and devoted nieces Rita Colette McKenna and Joann E. Donnellan, and nephew John J. McKenna and his wife Claudette. Visitation will be at St. Cecilia Convent on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. –– 8:00 p.m.; Sunday, October 1from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.; and on Monday, October 2 from 10:00 a.m. – noon and 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. The funeral Mass will take place in the convent chapel at 801 Dominican Drive on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 3:30 p.m., with burial to follow in the convent cemetery.
