Stanley Glen Tidwell was born on August 15, 1950, in Waco, Texas. In his youth, Stan played both baseball and football, developing the focus and determination that would contribute to hs sturdy character. During and after high school, he pursued another lively passion, rodeoing as a bull rider as well as a bulldogger. Stan enjoyed hunting, happily returning to Texas practically every year for deer season. He also spent many of his days enjoying one of his favorite pastimes--golf.
Stan built a successful career in the pawnbroking industry, earning the respect of colleagues, community leaders, and those who had the privilege of working alongside him. In 2012, shortly before his retirement, he received the prestigious honor of National Pawnbroker of the Year. This recognition reflected his unwavering commitment to promoting a positive image of the industry, building strong relationships with the community and local leaders, and giving generously to charitable organizations and individuals in need.
Stan absolutely loved his work and knew that the success of the organization depended greatly on taking excellent care of the hardworking employees. He always stressed the importance of recognizing the accomplishments, loyalty and dedication of every member of the team and went to great lengths to honor and connect with his management team, staff members, and their families. Stan undoubtedly had a keen mind for business, but he also genuinely understood the importance of caring well for those in charge.
Giving to others was also an important part of Stan's life outside of the office. For numerous years, he was a major organizer of and contributor to cancer research through his family's charity golf tournament, a cause near and dear to his whole family. Throughout his life, he willingly and yet often quietly stepped in to help family, friends and beyond with whatever they might need to get through a tough time. Stan recognized that he was blessed to be a blessing, and his generosity was one of his most notable qualities.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy Tidwell and Hazel Ruth BoonTidwell. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Julia Fields Tidwell; his adoring sister, Lou Preece (Wayne); his beloved daughter, Molly Ingram (Mitch): and his grandsons, Noah and Dylan. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Amanda Tidwell (Robert), and his granddaughters, Olivia and Amelia, as well as his stepson, Wesley Spencer (Britni).
Stanley Glen Tidwell leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty and generosity. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
