

Steven Henry Blunkall, age 73, of Hermitage, Tennessee, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family and faith. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 30, 1952, Steven was the son of Robert Taylor Blunkall and Laura Frances Esters Blunkall.
A lifelong resident of the Nashville area, Steve graduated from Hume-Fogg High School as a member of the Class of 1971. He dedicated 37 years of service as a meat cutter with Kroger, where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly spirit.
On June 6, 1981, Steve married the love of his life, Cheri Reynolds, in Nashville, Tennessee. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service to others.
Steve deeply loved his church, his family, and above all, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, where he faithfully served as a greeter, sang in the choir, and volunteered in numerous community events and church activities. Prior to joining Shiloh Baptist Church, he was an active member of Tulip Grove Baptist Church, serving on the security team and participating in youth mission trips and various church ministries.
When he was not serving his church or spending time with family, Steve enjoyed playing golf and was a devoted fan of Vanderbilt athletics. He especially loved following Vanderbilt football and basketball and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Commodores.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Cheri R. Blunkall; his son, James Robert “Robbie” Blunkall; brothers, Jerry (Jean) Blunkall and Don (Margaret) Blunkall; sister-in-law, Cynthia Catignani; nieces, Tracy (Trent) Sayles, Shannon Hall, Jennifer (Michael) Scruggs, and Victoria Catignani; nephews, Rastlin Evans and Joe Catignani; and many cherished great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Taylor Blunkall and Laura Frances Esters Blunkall; his mother-in-law, Wanda Faye Ensey Reynolds; his father-in-law, James C. Reynolds; and his brother-in-law, James “Jimbo” Reynolds.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Steve’s life on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon.
Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Pitman, Joey Diaferia, Jeffery Merryman, Braden Gant, Ben MacIntyre, Jay Humphreys, Coleton Parker, and Joe Catignani. Honorary pallbearer will be Remy Ahearn.
Steve’s legacy of faith, kindness, service, and unwavering love for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His life was a testimony to the joy of serving Christ and caring for others, and he will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
