Susan Stumb Cooney

Susan Stumb Cooney. Age 78, passed May 20, 2022. Preceded in death by her parents Lawrence Bauman Stumb and Florence Galbraith Stumb, and brother Lawrence Bauman Stumb, Jr. Survived by daughter Susan Stumb Cooney, son Charles Hayes Cooney, Jr., and niece Florence Stumb Chassaignac. Born in Nashville, Susan moved to Hendersonville when she was five, upon her father's passing, to live with her grandmother, mother, and brother. She returned to Nashville during high school years to attend Hillsboro High. Susan earned a bachelor’s degree in Special Education from the University of Kentucky. A member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority while at UK, she later helped start the Kappa chapter Epsilon Nu at Vanderbilt University. A lifelong Wildcats fan, Susan was happy to cheer for the Vanderbilt Commodores as long as they weren’t playing in the same game! After her much-loved children were grown, she worked in retail and ran her own speciality advertising company for 25 years. Susan was once a member of the Junior League of Nashville and Westminster Presbyterian Church. Susan had great memories of many wonderful years singing in the Westminster Church choir. Susan was a personable and loving friend to many people across the country. She was an avid and gifted gardener spending many hours every spring planning and planting her flower garden. A gift of remembrance may be made in Susan’s name to Westminster Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society. Private services will be held.
