Suzanne Damron Mayo, 77, of Antioch, Tennessee, passed away on July 15, 2026, at Alive Hospice. Born August 4, 1948, in Clarksville, Tennessee, Suzanne was the daughter of Martha Louise (Griffin) Damron and Harlan Damron.
Suzanne married Richard George Mayo on July 30, 1968. She graduated from Austin Peay University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science, and throughout her working life she served with Genesco, worked as a Notary Public, and was, for a time, involved in check printer manufacturing.
A woman of steady faith and sincere kindness, Suzanne lived with a generous spirit and a deep devotion to those she loved. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Donelson, and her care for others showed in the quiet, consistent ways she gave of herself—as a mother, a grandmother, and a presence who brought warmth to everyday life.
Suzanne found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful routines: tennis, playing the piano, shopping, taking pictures, and enjoying a meal at Cracker Barrel. She especially loved planning family gatherings, spending time with her grandsons, decorating her home for the holidays, and working in the yard. Though she did not like pets, she tolerated a few.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents: Martha and Harlan; her sister: Janis (Damron) Gates; and her husband: Richard.
She is survived by her two sons: George Lynn Mayo and Brett Griffin Mayo; her grandsons: Mark Alexander Mayo and Noah Griffin Mayo; and her sister: Nancy (Damron) Weir.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Mount Olivet Funeral Home & Cemetery, 1101 LEBANON PIKE, NASHVILLE, TN 37210. Burial to follow, at Mount Olivet Funeral Home & Cemetery.
