

ROSE, T Harold, age 93, of Nashville, retired dairy executive, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Mr. Rose, a native of Wilson County, was the son of Walter & Lola Rose of Lebanon, Tennessee. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Agriculture in 1942. He served over four years in the Navy during World War II, mostly in the Pacific arena.
Following the war, he returned to Franklin, TN with his wife, Winifred Stetson Rose of Berkley, California and son Tom. He served as a County Agricultural Agent for two years.
This was followed by a long tour in the dairy industry with Sealtest Foods in Nashville. He often said that he worked from the cow to the table. The last ten years, he was general manager of the milk plant at 14th and Church as well as the ice cream plant at 12th and Broadway. After retiring, he became executive director of the Tennessee Dairy Products Association. He held that position until he reached the age of 75. Winifred, the mother of three sons, Tom (Jacquelyn), Dayton, OH; Mark (Lori), Jupiter, FL; and Dan (Betty), Cookeville, TN, passed away in 1989. He married Mary Helen Browning in 1994. Mary Helen passed away in June, 2008. He is survived by brother Robert Rose of Murfreesboro, three sons, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by “adopted” daughter Anne Lara and good friend Bettye Carroll. He was a member of the Rotary Club for 25 years. He served on the State Correction Enterprise Board under Governors Alexander and McWhirtor. He was President of the Nashville Dairy Council for eight years. Harold was active in establishing the Nashville area Agricultural Farmers Club where he served as President. He was a strong supporter of 4-H club activities. He served as director of the Salvation Army. He was a 50 year Mason in the John B Garrett Lodge, Scottish Rite and York Rite, Al Menah Shrine and Court of Jester where he served as the director for one year. He was a member of American Legion Post 5. Harold was a long time member of Hillsboro Church of Christ. Visitation will be Friday, 5:00-8:00pm at Woodlawn-Roesch Patton Funeral Home. Funeral will be Saturday, 10:00am, at Hillsboro Church of Christ with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
