Ted Leland passed away peacefully at his home on September 30, 2015. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on June 29, 1926. Ted was a devoted husband to his late wife Pat, father to his children Kippie, Mark (Janice) and Peppi; and grandfather to Grant Johnston, Kimberly Vaden (Jim) and Adam Leland (Kelsey). Ted was an accomplished drummer starting his career in the drum and bugle corps in Wichita, Kansas. During World War II he enlisted in the Navy Air Corps. At the end of the war, he entered Wichita State and upon graduation took a position with Genesco and moved to Nashville. He eventually studied and opened an interior design and antique import business—Ted Leland Inc.—becoming well known in Nashville for his expertise. He served as state president of the Tennessee Chapter of Interior Designers. Upon retiring from the profession, he enjoyed golfing with the West End High golfers and learned to play the vibraphone (something he always wanted to do). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alive Hospice. A private visitation will be held for the family; however, a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
