He was born on September 12, 1947 in Nashville, TN to Thomas Palmer Hatfield, Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth Clark, both of whom predecease him. He was a 1965 graduate of Litton High School in Nashville. He was employed by AVCO early on and built helicopters for the war from 1966-1970. He attended classes at David Lipscomb University and Middle Tennessee State University. He then became a computer programmer for Nashville Bridge Company which later became Trinity Marine Industries. He was an employee there for 43 years before his retirement. He married the love of his life, Nancy, on July 20, 1973.
Tommy loved his family and friends with all of his heart. He was a sports enthusiast. He was thrilled at the opportunity to watch his granddaughters play sports over the years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. He spent many weekends staying active and doing things he loved with his friends and family. He also was a member of the bowling leagues as a young man. He was a proud PSL founder of the Tennessee Titans when they moved to Nashville. He was a member of St. Luke’s Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Above all, he adored his wife, Nancy, and loved and cherished his children and grandchildren. Although all our hearts are broken, we know he is at peace.
