If you are reading this, then you will know the creature in the green suit and pointed shoes has taken me by the hand and heading me to the edge of a river - hopefully the Shannon and not the Styx. My family has been waiting to hold a reunion, and now it can be.
Waiting are my parents, Gertrude B and James P. Wilson, my brothers Felix Z II (Juanita) & James P. Jr (Pauline), sisters Delia (Ralph) Thurman and Dorsey (Doe) (Clarence) Henard, my granddaughter, Shelby Moseley, grandson, Matthew Hale, and great-granddaughter, Anne Meyer.
I think I’ve led a full life, and though never materially wealthy, I always felt like the richest man in the world and that is what I am endowing to the world - my remaining family. Sons - Tommy (Jodie), Bobby (Molly), Chris (Cathy), and Scottie (Laurel). My daughters, Mittie Hale and Kathy (Glen) Moseley. Grandsons - Michael (Heather), Hunter, Taylor (Anna), Chase, Jake and Ethan Wilson, Gentry (Melissa) Hale and Cole Moseley. My granddaughters Amy (Thomas) Meyer, Tracey (Chad) Jackson, Rachel St. Georges, Elizabeth (Will) Bryant, Katie Wilson and Emily Moseley. Great-grandchildren - Jeanne, Stephanie, Caroline, Danielle & Luke Meyer, Nicholas and Jocelyn Jackson, Duke & Max Wilson, Callan & Elin Bryant. Two young men like grandsons, Clayton and David Cramb. By no means least, my ex-wife Patsy Hibbett. Many Friends - especially Peggy, Judy and Jean. Any remaining members of the Hoyte Hoodlums, and all nephews and nieces, their children and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
No one could ask for a more loving and rewarding family. They have given me more love than I deserve, and I hope that I gave the same to them. My grandmother once told me: “If you live a good, clean life, there is nothing to fear in Death”, so that is probably the reason I’m trembling.
Remember me on St. Patrick’s Day, and perhaps take a wee sip for me.
Sonny was a member of the 1950 class of Father Ryan High School and was deputy registrar at Metro Register of Deeds office for many years.
