Ms. Walker was the best teacher I had. I remember her being my teacher of the first Honors class I had ever taken. I thought I was in over my head, and was strongly considering trying to get back into a regular English class. I told Ms. Walker how I felt, and she told me to try my best on the first few assignments, and that she would help me get back into a regular English class if she thought I couldn't handle hers. I applied real effort, something I had been afraid to do in the past. It felt so amazing when she told me how impressed she was by my work and suggested that I stay in her class. She didn't just give me a good grade, she saw that I didn't have any confidence in myself and she did what she could to give me a reason to be confident. I went from skipping assignments because I was afraid of trying and failing, to regularly being an A student in her class. I went from being horrified of book discussions and being too embarrassed to share my ideas, to being excited about what parts of the book I was going to bring up in the next Socratic Circle. 

Ms. Walker became someone I greatly enjoyed being around. She was moving into a new classroom the summer after my senior year. Several times a week, I would walk about 2 miles from my house to help her pack and move things, and she would take me out to lunch after we were finished. I can't think of any other person who could have drawn me to willingly come back to a place I was forced to be at for four years. 

Staying in her class and getting to discover the amazing person she was has been one of the most beneficial decisions I've made. I will always remember her and always admire her ability to make me feel special when she was seeing so many other kids every day.

Ms. Walker was my high school English teacher and my golf coach/sponsor my senior year. She developed my interest in The Canterbury tales and we even went on my senior class trip together to England, Ireland, and Scotland. She was a very inspirational person to me and she will never be forgotten. Love u
