Vernon Lucille Pewitt Herb

HERB, Vernon Lucille Pewitt – Age 95 of Nashville, died peacefully on Saturday, October 26 at Williamson Medical Center. Born July 1, 1918 in Williamson County, Tennessee to the late John William Pewitt and Josephine Givens Pewitt. She was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, John Baptist Herb, sisters, Mabel Wright, Mildred Crowell, Ethel Pugh, Sarah Dotson, brother, John G. Pewitt, son-in-law Bob Anderson, and granddaughter, Charlene Koory. Survived by children, Mary Jo (Charles) Koory of Chattanooga, Ann Frances (John) Connolly of Tampa, Florida, John (Kathleen) Herb, Nashville, Nancy Anderson of Nashville, Catherine (John) McAdams of Augusta, Georgia, Margaret Herb of St. Louis, Missouri, and Therese (Ansley) Fleetwood of Nashville. Mrs. Herb is also survived by sister, Catherine Brown, brothers, James Pewitt, Lester Pewitt, and Earl Pewitt. Eighteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren. Mrs. Herb was a retired nurse, graduating in 1939 from the St. Thomas School of Nursing. She was a member of Cathedral of the Incarnation Church. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 28th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Marshall Donnelly Combs Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be conducted on Tuesday, October 29th at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Incarnation with the Rev. Edward Steiner celebrant. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment in Calvary Cemetery following the funeral mass.
