

Victor Coode (age 78) was born October 5, 1938 in Nashville, TN son of the late John Coode, Jr. and Ellen Mankel Coode. Also preceding Victor in death are his brothers: John Coode, III (Jack), Joseph Anderson Coode, Thomas Hodges Coode and sisters: Margaret Brew Coode Morris, Ellen Austin Coode Varley, and Sister Mary Demetrius Coode, RSM. He is survived by brothers: George Mankel Coode, Charles Michael (Mike) Coode (Jana) and sisters: Bedelia (Dedo) Coode Brandt, Sister Mary Judith Coode, RSM, sister-in-law, Liz Coode, and numerous loving nieces and nephews. His dear friend Polly Minyard and her family will especially miss their “Chumpy”. Family and friends are greatly saddened by his sudden death on Friday, September 22, 2017.
After graduating from Father Ryan High School, Victor served in the US Marine Corps. Victor’s career included forty plus years with National Life and Accident Insurance (now American General) where he served as assistant secretary. He is a former board member of Samaritan Recovery Community, Inc. and a lifelong supporter of the Nashville Sounds.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Fleming Center at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Incarnation with Father Mike Johnston officiating. Nieces and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.
