Virginia Ann Bennett, age 91, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023. She was born on August 6, 1932, in Jackson, Tennessee, to the late Allen and Mary (Essman) Hardy. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Bill and brothers Allen, Earl, Leon, Robert, and Charles and sisters Dorothy Payne and Clara Bell Sabin.
Virginia is survived by sons William (Patti) Bennett and Chris (Sandy) Bennett; grandchildren William Bennett, Nick Bennett, Nancy (Shaun) Bevill, Hope (Zack) Maier, Stephanie Bennett, and Alexandra Bennett; 5 great grandchildren and devoted sister Margaret Lancaster.
For many years Virginia worked for GMAC. After retirement she and her husband Bill devoted their time to volunteering at both St. Thomas Hospital and StoneCrest Medical Center. Her favorite activities were reading, playing cards, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with friends and family.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 12, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at St. Ignatius Catholic Church located at 601 Bell Road, Antioch. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, October 13, at 2:00 pm at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Visitation will precede the mass from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37204.
