Virginia A. Dowd, August 23, 2016. Born March 31, 1929 in Lumberport, West Virginia. She graduated from WVU with a degree in dietetics. She chose Vanderbilt University for her internship and later met her husband in Nashville. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jack Dowd.
Virginia retired from Metro Bordeaux Hospital as a registered dietitian.
She is survived by children, Brenda (Cary) Hayes, John Dowd III (Barbara) & Janet (Scott) Crabtree; grandchildren, Jason Keith, Ember Dowd, Katie Hayes & Megan Hayes; two great-grandchildren, Adin & Amillia.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Friday, August 26, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Mark Hunt officiating. Entombment will be private.
