W. Howard Marks

William Howard Marks Sr., 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2019 in Naples, Fl. Howard was born July 22, 1930 in Leesburg, Fl, the son of Robert Matthew Marks, and Lily Grace (Blakey) Marks. Howard attended Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, Tennessee. He met and married Gladys Smith on June 18th, 1950 and moved to Miami, Fl where he worked as a carpenter for his father for several years. In 1959 he joined Brotherhood Mutual Life Insurance Company later known as Mutual Security Life Insurance Company. The family lived in Orlando, Fl, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Atlanta, Ga. In late 1986 Howard retired from the insurance industry and moved to Nashville, TN to work for Trevecca Nazarene University in the development office, where he had served on the Board of Trustees for several years. Howard and Gladys started splitting their time between Nashville and Naples, Fl in 1992 and moved to Naples full time in 2004.

Howard is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gladys Smith Marks, Daughter Diane Marks Bridges(Glenn)Naples, Fl, son William Howard Marks Jr(Patty)Naples, Fl, son Robert Matthew Marks II(KarenWest Palm Beach, Fl, son Timothy Edwin Marks(Becky)Paris, Tx, and daughter Mary Elizabeth (Marks)Lee (Toby)Nashville,Tn, along with 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park 660 Thompson Lane Nashville, Tn 37204 on Wednesday September 4th from 5-8 PM. Visitation will continue on September 5th at Nashville First Church of the Nazarene 510 Woodland St, Nashville, Tn from 10:30-11:30 AM, with funeral service to follow 11:30-12:30. Burial will be at Woodlawn Roesch Patton Memorial Park.
