Mr. Atkinson was born in Detroit, Michigan, on February 9, 1949, the son of the late Paul William Atkinson and Margaret Ellen Slinn Atkinson. He graduated from Virginia Military Institute with a Bachelors of Arts in History. Mr. Atkinson served in the United States Army and was employed at Harris-Hillman Special Education School. He loved hunting, fishing, reading, and history.
Survivors include a sister, Margaret “Peggy” Tometich; two nephews, Matthew and Gregory Tometich; and special friends, Shirley Fitzgerald, Erskine Lytle, Allison Mason, Robbie Hampton, and Harris-Hillman Staff and Friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016, at eleven o’clock in the morning, Harris-Hillman School.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
