

William “Bill” Coakley grew up in Clarksville, Tn. He was one of nine siblings and graduated from Clarksville High School.
Bill worked in the dry-cleaning industry for many years. He worked his way up to becoming the manager of Dodge Cleaners and then the Owner of Village Cleaners. He made Village Cleaners, with its iconic sign, highly successful and has been voted Best of Nashville for many years.
Bill was an avid sportsman. He had a passion for hunting, fishing and won many shooting competitions. Bill was a very strong individual and seemed to be able to accomplish anything he put his mind to.
Bill had a heart for helping others and made many lifelong friendships and adopted families along the way. He was a member of the Westwood Community Church in Franklin, Tn.
He was preceded in death by his parents John H. Coakley and Jennifer Lee "Jennie" Pentecost. Also, by his siblings Olympia Cargile, Martha Ann Ford, James Coakley and Charles Coakley.
Bill was survived by his beloved partner of 33 years, Dorthy Anderson. Also, by his siblings Nancy Norman, Mary Ruth Sterry (LeRoy), Agnes Rye (John) and John M. Coakley. He was also survived by his son, Brian D. Briggs (Amber) and grandson Parker Briggs.
Other surviving family members: Emma Lee, Raymond Floyd, Howard Floyd, Lauriece Hankins, Chiqutia Anderson, Kimberly Floyd, Zykeria Hankins, Ricardo Bryant, Antavious Anthony and Kyson White.
A visitation will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Woodlawn Roesch Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. A visitation will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Woodlawn Roesch Patton Funeral home with a funeral service to follow at 2:30 PM. A committal service will occur following services.
