Don was born in Fairview, but moved to Nashville at age 12. He graduated from West High School in 1958 where he played varsity baseball and basketball. He was named to the all-city team in both sports at the time, and he was inducted into the West High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018. Don attended Belmont College on a baseball scholarship, and was an outstanding pitcher for the City League of Metro Nashville.
An avid golfer, he scored in the low-to-mid 70’s well into his 70’s. He shot his age when he was 67, and continued to score par and under-par rounds on over 40 courses. Don’s coach Joe Shapiro, was overheard telling friends at McCabe Golf Course, “If you want to win, put Don Hall on your team.”
Don was an example of a man that achieved great success through hard work and he inspired others to do the same. He credited his father for teaching him exemplary work ethics. Prospering in retail, finance, and sales, Don was also a partner in a thriving copy machine business. After selling the business, he was a successful real estate investor.
Don was happily married to his high school sweetheart, Sue Lovier Hall for 44 years. They enjoyed wintering in Florida and traveling throughout the United States and Canada in their motor home. They also enjoyed travel adventures to Brazil, Japan, Hong Kong, and Italy.
