KEMP, William Abbott - age 87, passed away October 3, 2013. I was the third child, second son of Edward H. Kemp, Sr. and Mary Venona Orr Kemp. My love of some 60 years was Barbara Ann Lunsford Kemp, now deceased. Survived by brother Edward H. Kemp, Jr. (Miriam), sisters Sarah Kemp Farrar (Ralph), and Mary Alice Kemp; children David A. Kemp, Barbara K. Pinkerton (Pat), Mary K. Flora, and Jennifer S. Kemp; grandchildren Charles A. Kemp, Will C. Kemp, Marshall D. Flora, Colin M. Flora, Natalie A. Flora, T. Abbott Pinkerton, David C. Pinkerton, and Patrick N. Pinkerton; great grandchildren Tiara Kemp, Elizabeth Kemp, and David C. Kemp; uncle Willie B. Kemp (Mamie Jean); five nieces and four nephews; and friend Dr. Jim Elliott. I served in the Army Air Corps in WWII and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. I graduated from Maryville College, Maryville, TN, in 1947 and worked 55 years for Crawford and Company of Atlanta, GA. I enjoyed playing in and later watching baseball, basketball, tennis, and golf and also watching my grandchildren play soccer, volleyball, and football. I accepted Christ as my Savior and Lord and was raised in the Mars Hill Presbyterian Church, Acworth, GA. As an adult, I enjoyed membership in seven different Presbyterian Churches in five different cities. Special for me were the Good Samaritan class and several mission trips with the youth of Westminster, the Men’s Sunday School Class at Woodmont Baptist Church, the Sunday School Class at Glen Leven, and the Men’s Bible Study Group at Sugartree. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. EST Monday, October 7, 2013 at the Liberty Hill Cemetery, Acworth, GA. My eight beloved grandchildren will carry my casket. Honorary pall bearers are Dr. Jim Elliott, Howard Isaacs, A.D. Denny, John McBee, and Bob Martin. Visitation with the family will be held at 4 p.m. with a memorial service at 5 p.m. CST on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Glen Leven Presbyterian, 3906 Franklin Pike with Dr. Mark Bryan officiating. Memorial donations may go to any church that proclaims Jesus Christ as its head.

Abbott was a good friend. He lived his life in the name of his savior, Jesus Christ.

We just heard about Abbott. We loved Abbott and Ann and considered them dear friends. We were able to attend Ann's memorial service, but didn't know until this week about Abbott's death. He was always a wonderful example and Christian witness during our 33+ years with Crawford & Co. We enjoyed our years in Nashville after Abbott's retirement. He had a very positive influence on all of us!

Missed seeing Abbott every Sunday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, but enjoyed visiting with him at The Green Hills YMCA on a regular basis.

Abbott was a precious man and I am blessed to have known
him as a member of our Community of Faith at Glen Leven.
I enjoyed singing with him in the Choir and being with him in the Gospelaires Sunday School Class. He delighted us with his great sense of humor and spirit. His love for the Lord and his family was especially evident each time he prayed. He was a wonderful witness and I will truly miss him.

Mr. Kemp was a client at Ameriprise Financial where I was Executive Asst. until my retirement. He was one of the nicest, Christian men I have met. We were not supposed to have "favorite" clients, but I confess that he was mine. I always looked forward to him coming into the office for an appointment.

Abbott was my first boss and mentor. I am so glad to read his faith in the LORD Jesus Christ and know where he is.
