

A memorial service honoring his life will be conducted at 11am Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Rev. Sandy Shawhan and Rev. Stan Smith will officiate. The family will welcome friends on Saturday at 10am until time of the service. Burial will be at a later date.
Born Dec 21, 1925 in Columbia, TN to the late Samuel Frierson Maddin and Cordie Mai Jones, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Judith (Judy) Ann Peavyhouse Ferguson Maddin; his three sisters: twin Barbara Louise Parrish, Mary Elizabeth Mangano, Mildred Margaret Hopkins and nephew Joseph Nicholas Mangano, Jr. He is survived by nieces Sandra Parrish Shawhan and Joy Wedekind Hunter, nephew Zack Parrish Jr., stepson Glenn Maurice Ferguson and wife Sue Little Ferguson, their daughter Emily Ferguson Gregory, her husband Michael Gregory, and their son Harrison James Gregory.
Bill was a member at Smith Springs Baptist Church. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and belonged to the John B. Garrett Lodge and Al Menah Shrine Temple. Bill was a 40-year career employee of the Newspaper Printing Corporation serving as pressroom manager as well as purchasing manager for The Tennessean and Banner newspapers. He was a board member of the Tennessee Minority Purchasing Council and member of the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Minority Purchasing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Smith Springs Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
