William "Sumo" H Northern, age 77, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. He was born on October 12, 1946 in Franklin, TN to Herbert and Audrey Warf Northern. He spent his entire life within the middle TN area.
Bill married the love of his life, Sonja Toler in 1971. He had three sons, Bryan, Brent and William. Bill spent his career with the Nashville Fire Department for over 30 years. He truly loved his family he made within the fire department. He was known as “Sumo” to them.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Sonja; Sons, Brent, Bryan and William Northern; Brother-in-Law, Parker (Carol) Toler; Sister-in-laws, Sharon (John) Weir and Deborah (Kevin) McNamara.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Herbert and Audrey Northern and brother, Robert Northern.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will occur on Monday, November 27, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane Nashville, TN 37204. Family will receive family and friends beginning at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 with the Celebration of Life beginning at 11:30 AM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
