

Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Bill dedicated his life to serving others through medicine. He began his distinguished career as a transplant surgeon at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he helped improve and save countless lives. Later, he continued his commitment to public service in a long-standing administrative leadership role with the Veterans Administration, where he remained devoted to improving the care of America's veterans.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edith Nylander.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Veronica Nylander; his sister, Nancy Working; his sisters-in-law, Valerie Guenst, Lori Gorzny, and Lisa Moore; his brothers-in-law, John Guenst and Johnny Moore; and by his many beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom will cherish his memory.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bill found his greatest joy in spending time with his wife and the many cherished fur babies they loved as family. He had a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and a passion for photography, finding beauty in nature and preserving special moments through his camera. His quiet strength, intelligence, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those he loved will be deeply missed.
A private memorial service will be held by the family.
Bill's legacy lives on through the lives he touched as a physician, mentor, colleague, husband, family member, and friend.
