

William Harris Swiggart III born November 28, 1919 and died March 11, 2017 at the age of 97. He was predeceased by his parents William and Katherine Swiggart, his wife Jane Haswell Swiggart, his sister Katherine Pilcher and his brothers Peter and James Swiggart and granddaughter Maitland Harvey. He is survived by his two children Kay Hall and William Swiggart, his grandchildren Steven Hall, Kimberly Harvey (Bo), Katherine Hall Lindsay (Jon), Will Swiggart (Kelly), Ayne Wallace Nichols (Cory), Ethan Swiggart (Vanessa) and great-grandchildren Stokes, Lily, Ferris, Elliott, Zoe, Jacob, Mason, Logan, Cohen, Josephine, and Harris. He graduated from Duncan high school in Nashville and Vanderbilt school of engineering. He spent WWII as a civilian employee in the Charleston Navel yard using his engineering degree to repair damaged war ships. Following the war, he worked for the Nashville Bridge Company designing barges and tow boats for the Mississippi River. Bill worked there until moving to Baton Rouge, LA to work for Port Allen Marine, again designing river boats. Bill has been active in his church , Woodmont Hills as an Elder and along with his wife, Jane, a leader in small groups in his home.Bill has been actively involved with his family, including twelve great grandchildren. He has always loved woodworking, making pieces of furniture for his grandchildren. His great grandchildren still play with the toys he made for his children. We wish to acknowledge the loving care that he received from the third floor of Richland Place. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017, at two thirty, Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Saturday from noon until the funeral hour at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
