

Alex “Papa” Lujan, 98, of San Diego, CA passed away with his family by his side on March 7, 2023. He was born in Los Angeles on February 26, 1925, to his father, Antonio Lujan, and his mother, Crescenia Lujan. Alex also had two sisters, Delia and Maria, and three brothers, Juan, Demetrio, and Antonio. Alex graduated from San Diego High School.
Alex served our country during World War II. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945, where he was ranked Private First Class. Alex entered the army on May 28, 1943, at Camp Roberts, Paso Robles, CA. He served overseas on November 22, 1943, in the New Guinea, Southern Philippines, and Luzon Campaign. Alex was discharged in 1945 as a War Hero and was awarded a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.
Then in 1946, Alex Lujan met the love of his life, Rosa Maria. They had two children together, Theresa and Cheryl. Alex continued to work for many years at Campbell Industry. After the death of Theresa, Alex and Rosa Maria raised their grandchildren. Alex’s hobbies included traveling with his wife and watching sports channels like the Padre game, boxing matches, and WWE (wrestling). Alex took pride in being there for his grandchildren as he went to every baseball game to watch his grandchildren Alex and Lawrence, play baseball.
He was survived by his granddaughter Rosalie and her husband, Rolando Perez, and their two sons and families: Alex (Karen & their girls Bella, Aubree, and Cora) and Lawrence (Kim), along with Natalia and Paty Ferruggia.
Alex Lujan found happiness by providing the best life for his family. His proudest moment was being able to hold his GREAT-GREAT granddaughter Cora. Alex will be laid to rest next to his wife, Rosa Maria, at Holy Cross Cemetery.
