When I was little Grandpa and I would always be in the backyard feeding the chickens, planting plants, or just digging random holes in the ground. My favorite memory with Grandpa was when we were about to drive somewhere and I didn't want to leave because I wanted to play with the baby chickens. So I asked Grandpa if I could take one of them with us, and of course he said yes. One of the things that Grandpa never did was say no, because of this I had lots of toys and hermit crabs.I remember when my first hermit crab died and I was very sad, but grandpa took me to the store just so I could get a new one or maybe two. I also remember the stories that my mom told me about Grandpa cooking nilaga and arrozcaldo for me when I was a baby and I didn't want to eat plain old basic baby food after eating his delicious meals. As I got older Grandpa would let me help him bake pizza and brownies. Also when I visit him he always give me spam and brisk ice tea lemonade cause he knows it's my favorite. My Grandpa is always there to my rescue when I needed it, an example is when I was in kindergarten and I had an accident he would always be there to pick me up. He was and always will be my Hero!!!
Grandpa and I had one main thing in common which was plants, we could bring plants back to life with just a little water. He taught me his tricks in making a plant come back alive. Grandpa told me that if anyone asks about anything  just say "secret". 
I will forever love and cherish the memories I made with grandpa. Thank you for giving me everything I asked for and more. I love you so much and you will always be in my heart.

A message from Jack..... 

Grandpa Dado always tickled me and played with my ears.  He told me he did that because he liked to hear me laugh.  After school we would always go to McDonald's so we can get happy meals.  He liked to play with the toys we got in them too.  He cooked my favorite foods like scrambled eggs,  garlic fried rice, and most of all, his yummy brownies.  They were the best!  I also liked to watch my favorite tv shows with him.  We had a lot of fun.

The best feeling in the world would be when Grandpa came over to babysit us.  That meant that you could do basically anything.  You could watch movies, open any toy I would find at home, even though I wasn't supposed to.  We also often made trips to Toy Land at the Navy Exchange, where he bought me an American Girl doll, just because I wanted it.  Another thing we would do was cook pancakes.   He was the first to teach me how to make them.  I was his mini chef.  And best of all, you got to go to McDonald's to get Happy Meals and Chicken McNuggets.  Thank you for your kindness, cheesy humor, flexibility, and patience.  May you rest in peace and watch over us in Heaven.

Losing our dad so suddenly has not been easy.  Since the 12th of December, there is not a day that goes by without missing him.  He was the rock of our family always making sure each and every one of us was always ok.  He never hesitated to help when we needed him.  He just came anytime regardless whether what day or time it was and even without much notice.  
My favorite memory of him was how much he loved to cook.  He taught me how to make my favorite filipino dishes, bake, and that it was ok to be creative with food.  I struggled at first because he didn't tell me any measurements, just some of this, and some of that, he would say, then to taste it.  Eventually I go it.  He would come over to my house and saw leftovers, taste it and tell me “Good Job” of course my response was, I learned from the best along with a wink.  “If you are not proud of it, don’t serve it”, is also something my dad always reminded me.  
My dad also helped me with my dying plants.  He loved plants almost as much as cooking.  When he saw sad plants at my house, he would take them to revive them- we called it the plant hospital.  At his house, He would show me my plants under his care, they looked great.  He would tell me to be patient and things take time.  Then one day he would surprise me and bring it back to me alive and revived.  
Our dad loved to always tell me to live life like there is no tomorrow.  I’m pretty sure he lived by this as well.   With our busy life and schedules, it’s easy to forget to take a moment to tell our loved ones how much we love and appreciate them.  
Dad, thank you for your love, your guidance, your laughs and jokes, but most of all, thank you for all the sacrifices you made to keep our family whole.

"SEE THE WORLD," he would say. 
The Navy gave him that opportunity to visit many places including Spain, Jerusalem and crossing the Equator . Those tales would make his eyes light up. He would get animated as he shared his pictures and memorabila. As a kid, it would inspire you  to have that adventure one day. His fond one - The Sea of Galilee.
Upon my return from Switzerland, I thought I could throw him off at breakfast by announcing that I would be going to Spain next all by myself. (I might have wanted to get a rise out of him.)  I expected a hard no. He didn't miss a beat.  "SEE THE WORLD, don't miss your opportunity," he smiled. 
Rest In Peace, your lesson will always live and be inspired through me. 

Forever in my heart,  I'll cherish the fond memories of father and son rituals from the day I was born to his last day.  Planning, buying and building projects.  Home Depot visits I will miss.  Looking for straight lumber together and both of us getting side tracked.  Me the tools,  him the plants.  We both always left home depot happy.   

I will hold dear to my heart the teachings we did together.  He taught me to measure twice and cut once.   His gestures, his shaking of the head of approval or disapproval.   We sometimes didn't even need to say a word.  We knew just by the look.  In the end we knew each other.   

My fondest memory is that my dad never stopped to learn.  He always loved it when I got a new tool, I taught him how to use  and when he used it, the look on his face.  Priceless.

I'll miss you Dad.  You will always be with me in all the projects I do.  I know  you will be watching me making sure I do it right.   We will always build together.  Everything I do, it's because of you, so when folks ask how did you learn  that?  I'll proudly say.  "My dad taught me".   You won't be forgotten, everything we built is around me.  Your heart and soul in the work we did I will miss.  Love you pops.  You're in good hands now.   Rest in peace.
