Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, Ernie blessed us with his presence on October 3, 1939. In 1957, at the age of 18, he immigrated to the United States with his mother, father and sister; and they made San Diego, CA their home.
It wasn’t long until he found the love of his life, Barbara (Bobbie) Cuares Abrenilla. They married in May 1966, and were blessed with 38 years together. Their favorite past time was fishing.
Ernie was a dedicated, hardworking, family man. He worked at a local cannery for Bumble Bee Tuna and after 20 years he retired; he then move on to Cox Communications where he spent another 22 years until he retired for good. He incorporated amazing principles and morals for his family to embody which helped build the beautiful, strong foundation on which they stand on now. Ernie taught us to appreciate the little things in life, but most importantly the definition of hard work and the true meaning of success.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie. His survivors include the four children that he and Bobbie raised: Gigi Deguinion of Phoeniz, AZ; Robin Suafa of Tacoma, WA; Tom Deguinion of San Diego, CA and Bonne Mongold of San Diego, CA. His grandchildren includes: Derek (DJ) Stewart, Dominique (Nikki) Stewart, Chris Te’o, Popo Te’o, Tele Te’o, Fia Te’o, Kody Mongold, and Kailey Mongold. His great-grandchildren includes: Derek (Kai) Stewart and Leilani (Lani) Randall.
