Legalman First Class John Alfred Guinther, (USN, Ret), born on 24 December 1952 in Honesdale, Pennsylvania to the late Edward S. Gunther and Doris M. Guinther. He passed away after his battle with Glioblastoma cancer. His first wife Victoria Ayonar Guinther proceeded him on September 10th 2017.
He is currently survived by his companion Jennifer (Jin Sook) Lee of the past seven years of Chula Vista, Ca. He is also survived by his children Christopher John Guinther and wife Rachel and children Sebastian and Dylan of Dublin, Ca. His daughter Annalisa Ayonar Ochoa and husband Marcos Ochoa and children Marcos, Isaac and Elias of Chula Vista, CA.
He is also survived by his brothers Daniel Guinther and wife Patrica of Honesdale, Pa., Michael Guinther and wife Debbie of Spotsylvania,Va., and brother Robert Guinther of Sumter, SC. His sister Maryann (Guinther) Glisson proceeded him in death on December 28th 2017.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He had many duty stations during his 23 and a half years in the U.S . Navy including the Vietnam War, Deseret Shield and Deseret Storm.
His visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel National City, 607 National City Boulevard, National City, CA 91950, on August 27, 2026, beginning at 10:00 am.
A Funeral Service will take place at Funeraria Del Angel National City, 607 National City Boulevard, National City, CA 91950, on August 28, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A Committal Service will Military Honors follow at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122, on August 28, 2026, from 1:15 pm to 1:45 pm.
