Juana Mejia Gutierrez

She was born June 26, 1932 in Santa Cruz Jalisco, Mexico. She is survived by her only daughter Hilda, her 3 grandchildren Melissa, Neomi, and Gerardo. Also by her 4 great grandchildren Carlos, Elena, Eeva, and Caleb.

Juana "Nana" Gutierrez traveled to North Hollywood in the early 1960's and began taking in family, friends, acquaintances into her home. She was an excellent cook, a hard worker, and a caregiving woman. She worked in a church as a housekeeper, and a convalescent home as a cook for over 15yrs. She dedicated the last 30yrs of her life to raise & care for her grandchildren, while also traveling to provide care for ill or injured family members. She was "NANA" to everyone.

Services will be held Wednesday June 8th 2016 at Humphrey's Mortuary also known as Funeraria Del Angel 753 Broadway Ave Chula Vista Ca 91910 between the hours of 5:00-9:00pm. A rosary is to be held, but no time has been set. We ask our family and friends to please either limit their purchase/ and or preferably not at all purchase flowers. There will not be a burial, nor mass. As per Nanas request-Hilda, Melissa & Neomi will travel at a later date to take her remains to lay rest in her hometown of Santa Cruz. Where her mother Epigmenia "Mama Mencha" Mejia, father Catarino "Papayino" Gutierrez, brothers & sisters all await.
