Maurina Lubis was born in Batangas, Philippines on July 13, 1942 to Maria Fabian Reyes and Jose Templo Recinto Sr. She was the youngest of six children, and ingrained with the values of familial love and indivisibility.
She was composed yet cheerful. She was firm yet compassionate. She lived a fulfilling life in service of the public and of God, and continuously provided a guiding voice for her large extended family.
She passed away on January 11, 2021, preceded in death by her parents, three siblings (Flordeliza R. Liman, Arturo R. Recinto Sr., Jose R. Recinto Jr.), and beloved husband (Eduardo L. Lubis).
She was survived by her two siblings (Remy R. Lobrin, Honorio R. Recinto), her two children and in-laws (Rodelio and Nancy Bagsic, Oliver and Zenaida Lubis), and two grandchildren (Ron O’Neil L. Bagsic, Meg Laetritia C. Lubis).
Forever loved and remembered by her family, friends, and students for her selflessness, cheerful personality, and unwavering dedication to God. Through them, her memories and teachings will continue to live on.
