Born in 1934, Megan graced this world with her sassy sense of humor, her fierce stubbornness, her profound love for the people around her, and an unwavering courage that remained with her throughout her long, remarkable life. She had a way of making herself known, whether through a perfectly timed quip, a knowing look, or one of the many colorful idioms she so dearly loved.
Megan’s personality was as lively as it was loving. Her clever wit kept everyone on their toes, and her affectionate nature made those she loved feel welcomed, cared for, and comforted. She had a particular fondness for idioms and often sprinkled them into everyday conversations, sharing her wisdom in her own unmistakable way. Her repeated sayings were sentiments that perfectly captured her ability to find meaning, humor, and a lesson in even the simplest moments. Of all the roles she held throughout her life, none brought Megan greater pride and joy than being a grandmother. She cherished the title and wore it proudly. Her grandchildren were among the greatest loves of her life, and she filled their lives with affection, laughter, wisdom, and countless memories. To them, she wasn’t simply a grandmother…she was the best grandma ever.
Megan’s life was also a testament to extraordinary resilience. She survived five brain hemorrhages early on, then the loss of her 12 siblings, two of her sons, Eric and Chuck, and most recently her husband, John Jr., in addition to other family members she loved. Megan faced each of these challenges with remarkable strength and courage. Even in the face of sadness, she remained herself, with her humor, her spirit, or her ability to sass anyone at any point. Her courage was matched only by her refusal to let life’s difficulties define her.
Megan lived life on her own terms, which included love, laughter, strength, and plenty of sass. She leaves behind a legacy measured not only by the years she lived, but by the joy she brought to others and the lasting impression she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished. And knowing Megan, she would probably have an idiom ready for the occasion. In fact, as her husband would also say, “It’s been a good life.”We honor the remarkable life of Megan Snyder, an absolute beacon of love, humor, and resilience to those around her. The legacy she leaves will continue to inspire us and her memory will forever be cherished in all of our hearts.
