Rudy S. Ayala was born on August 12,1935 in his parent's family home in the Lincoln Acres area of National City. Rudy's parents were Benjamin and Soledad Serrano Ayala. Rudy was the youngest of six children. He was a life-long citizen of National City. Rudy passed away June 10, 2015 early Wednesday morning peacefully in the presence of his loving family.
He was a hard worker for over 60 years of his life. Rudy retired as a construction worker with many skills and trades and was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 12. He was married to his loving wife, Lucia, for over 50 years. He was a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all who knew and loved him.
He enjoyed watching sports, especially San Diego Chargers and Padres baseball. He also enjoyed family gatherings such as camping at Silver Strand, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and playing poker with the boys until midnight of New Year's Eve. One of his most favorite things to do was to take a road trip to Vegas with his kids and roll the dice at the craps table. :)
He loved to watch his grand kids play sports and would be their greatest supporter in the stands! He enjoyed going to the Padres game with his sons and grandchildren.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Antonio Ayala, Julian Ayala and Leroy Serrano as well as his sisters, Eleanor Enriquez and Mary J. Medina. He is survived by his sister, Dolores Garcia and nine children: Ralph Enriquez, Maria Elena Wright, Rudy Ayala Jr., Beatriz Guay, Arturo Ayala, Alicia Ayala, Ana Marie Sexton, Lydia Triana and John Anthony Ayala. He had 26 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren with one on the way. :)
Rudy's physical presence has left us, but his spirit will be with us always; his legacy will forever live on!
