Our beautiful mother, Sally Concha Padilla-Terrones, affectionately known as “La Baby,” graced this world on May 8, 1938, in Oceano, CA. Born to Trinidad Padilla and Conception Lemos, she was the heart of her family, cherishing her siblings—Trinidad, Dolores, Raymond, Max, Josie (her Partner in Crime), Louie, and Lupe (her Leona).
Mom’s love for life was undeniable. She danced her way into the hearts of many as a Mambo dancer for Perez Prado, even appearing on TV in Santa Barbara—one of the many memories she carried with pride.
Her love story with our dad, Salvador “Chavita,” began in the close-knit town of Oceano, where he, her brother’s best friend, stole her heart. At just 15, she eloped with the love of her life, and on July 24, 1954, their forever began. He called her “Mi Vida,” and though she would shrug it off with a smile, we all knew she adored it. Their love brought seven incredible children into this world—Salvador Jr, Robert, Johnny, Carlos, Richard, Marylou, Raymond, and step daughter Clara. If it were up to Mom, she would have had more, as she often reminded us how much she loved being pregnant. Her love multiplied through five generations, blessing her with 101 grandkids—and three more on the way, whom she was eagerly awaiting.
Mom was our rock, our matriarch, always dressed to perfection, with a love for bold colors and, of course, her signature cheetah print. She carried a spirit of strength, sass, and endless love. Her presence could brighten any room—whether with her infectious smile or the infamous looks she gave. She embodied compassion, faith, and resilience, teaching us the value of family, the power of love, and the importance of always striving to be our best selves. Whether it was a delicious home-cooked meal, (chicharrones and beans for days) or simply the wisdom shared, she always knew how to make us feel cherished and we knew we were all her “favorites “.
Though we grieve her absence deeply, her memory will live on in the love she instilled within us, guiding us through life's journey. We are eternally grateful to have had her as our mother, and we will carry her spirit with us forever.
We love you Mom, eternally grateful-
Your Family
